Entry-Level Nonprofit Outreach Representative - $20/hr + Bonuses
$20/hour guaranteed + bonuses | Paid training | 21-35 hours/week | Boulder, CO
Good With People? Make It Your Job.
Some people are great behind a screen. Others are best when they're out in the world, meeting people, making connections, and having conversations that matter.
If you're the second kind, we should talk.
Public Outreach is hiring Nonprofit Outreach Representatives to join our face-to-face fundraising team in Boulder.
You'll work with a supportive team, meet people throughout the community, and help nonprofit organizations build support for causes like environmental protection, human rights, LGBTQIA+ equality, reproductive freedom, and humanitarian relief.
No fundraising experience? No problem.
We're looking for people with personality, curiosity, resilience, and the confidence to start a conversation.
We'll teach you the rest.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
This isn't a desk job, a call center role, or a position where you do the same thing every day.
You'll be out in the Boulder community, talking with people face-to-face and helping them discover causes worth supporting.
Your day will involve:
Starting conversations with people you haven't met before
Sharing stories about important nonprofit campaigns
Inspiring people to become ongoing monthly donors
Working outdoors alongside an energetic, supportive team
Building communication, persuasion, and public speaking skills
Receiving coaching and working toward fundraising goals
The important part: This is a direct, face-to-face fundraising role. You'll be approaching members of the public, asking for financial support, and hearing "no" plenty of times.
It's not for everyone.
But if you enjoy connecting with people, can laugh off an awkward conversation, and like getting better at something challenging, you might be surprisingly good at it.
WHY PEOPLE LIKE THIS JOB
You earn a guaranteed hourly wage.
You'll make $20/hour from day one, plus opportunities for performance bonuses. This is not a commission-only job.
Your work supports causes that matter.
Help nonprofit organizations build the long-term support they need to protect people, communities, and the environment.
You'll develop skills that travel with you.
Communication, confidence, storytelling, teamwork, leadership, and handling rejection are useful almost everywhere.
You're not doing it alone.
You'll receive paid training, work alongside experienced fundraisers, and get regular feedback to help you improve.
There's room to grow.
Many of our leaders started in entry-level fundraising positions. If you enjoy the work and perform well, there are opportunities to develop into coaching and leadership roles.

This is an in-person, outdoor position with different fundraising locations throughout Boulder.
YOU MIGHT BE A GREAT FIT IF...
You're friendly, outgoing, and comfortable meeting new people
You can keep a positive attitude when someone says "no"
You enjoy learning, improving, and challenging yourself
You care about social justice, environmental protection, human rights, or helping others
You're comfortable being active and working outdoors
You can reliably commit to at least 3 full shifts per week
You're at least 18 years old
Your background doesn't have to look a certain way.
Maybe you've worked in restaurants, retail, customer service, or sales. Maybe you're a student, recent graduate, performer, teacher, camp counselor, or community volunteer.
Maybe you've never had a job that involved public speaking, but you've always been the person who can strike up a conversation with just about anyone.
All of those experiences can translate well into nonprofit outreach and fundraising.
We care more about your attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn than having the perfect resume.

At Public Outreach, we believe different backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences make our teams stronger.
We welcome applicants of all identities and backgrounds and are committed to an inclusive, respectful workplace where everyone can be themselves.
We respect people's names, identities, and pronouns, and accommodations are available throughout the hiring process.
